Shipping Policy

Effective Date: July 30, 2026

Shipping live birds is the part of this business that asks the most of everyone involved. Here is exactly how we do it, and what we need from you so your chicks arrive well.

Shipping Live Poultry

  • We ship Monday through Wednesday by USPS Priority Live Shipping, for a 1–2 day journey.
  • Birds travel in specialized, ventilated packaging made for live animals.
  • Your phone number is printed on the shipping label so your post office can reach you directly.
  • You must collect your shipment the day it arrives, within 24 hours of being notified. Please confirm ahead of time that your local post office handles live shipments.

If a shipment is not collected promptly, or arrangements are not made with your post office, it may be re-handled or returned. We cannot be held responsible for what happens to birds in that situation.

What the Live Arrival Guarantee Requires

To qualify for our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee:

  • Collect your birds on the day they arrive.
  • Give accurate shipping details at checkout, especially your phone number.
  • Follow our Poultry Care Guide.
  • Report any birds dead on arrival within 24 hours, with clear photos of them in the original box, through our contact form.

We may delay or reschedule a shipment because of extreme weather, postal disruption, or the health of the birds. We would rather hold a hatch than send birds into conditions they will not survive. Live poultry cannot be returned.

Hatching Eggs and Supplies

  • Shipped by standard USPS with tracking.
  • Report damaged eggs within 24 hours for credit or replacement.

Shipping Rates

Shipping starts at a base rate of $30.00 per order. This covers the live animal handling fee, the insulated box, and the care that goes into packing birds for travel.

Each bird adds $1.00 on top of that base rate. More birds mean more space, more warmth to maintain, and sometimes more than one box.

Your exact shipping total is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay. That figure is the one that applies to your order. Rates are subject to change.

Order Minimums

Chicks keep each other warm in transit, so we ship a minimum of 3 birds. That applies to chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and guineas alike.

The minimum for each breed is also shown on its product page and enforced in your cart, so you will never be able to place an order too small to travel safely.

Delays and Shortages

If anything changes with your order we will tell you promptly and offer to reschedule or refund what we cannot fill. Tracking details are sent as soon as your order ships.
