Large fowl blue Ameracuanas are one of several color varieties of Ameraucana chickens recognized by the APA. Blue chickens are based on blacks, but with the black feathers diluted to blue by the blue gene (Bl). The feathers are a blue/gray color, but the eggs are true blue. Ideally each feather is laced with black.
