Located in the Salinas Valley of California, about 100 miles south of San Fransisco, Metzer Farm is a family owned and operated hatchery that was launched in 1972 by John Metzer. Specializing in mostly waterfowl, Metzer Farms hatches 17 breeds of ducklings and 12 breeds of geese each hatching season, some even available year round.
They also hatch a variety of game birds like Eastern Wild Turkey, Ringneck Pheasants, and French Pearl Guinea Fowl. Their location is particularly unique, as it is often referred to as the "Salad Bowl of the Nation", because it is one of the more intense vegetable growing regions in the United States. As most farms dedicate all of their resources to vegetable production, there are no poultry farms nearby. This is excellent for maintaining safe bio-security on the farm.
To ensure the highest quality birds and customer experience, Metzer Farms controls all aspects of their operation on their farm including breeding, nutrition, selection, incubation, and hatching. Metzer services just about every type of poultry customer there is, from hobbyists, meat producers, duck egg producers, feed stores, and backyard poultry farmers. In addition to hatching ducks and geese, Metzer also offers hatching duck eggs, blown duck and goose eggs for art, as well as balut and fresh duck eggs for eating.
Today, Metzer Farms is one of the most well known and popular waterfowl hatcheries in the United States. They have successfully shipped to every state in the country, as well as many countries world wide. With Pekin breeding stock regularly imported from Grimaud Freres in France, you can be sure that you are receiving the highest quality meat Pekin ducks available. Whether you're purchasing for your backyard, farm, or restaurant, you can find a huge variety of duck breeds from Metzer Farms.
