Johnson's Waterfowl is the original hatchery that eFowl worked with in 2008. They are a small, family run hatchery in Middle River, MN. Their practices of raising poultry represent the best American agricultural traditions that today we call pasture raised and free range poultry. This is simply the method of caring for livestock that is normal for family and hobby farms throughout the United States, and no where is this more evident than at Johnson's Waterfowl.
They are most known for their call ducks, which they have focused on over the past few years. Call Ducks have a relatively short hatching season, and they sell out very fast. Johnson's Waterfowl does not use any artificial production methods to extended the laying season of their flocks. Thus, the birds' laying seasons correspond with natural production cycles.
Johnson's Waterfowl also works to preserve the genetic lineage of many heritage and old world waterfowl breeds. Due to their conservation efforts, breeds like the Saxony, Silver Appleyards, and Emery Penciled Runners are becoming more and more common. This is family run American waterfowl farm is truly an agricultural gem.
