Welsh Harlequin Ducks
The Welsh Harlequin ducks are a light-weight breed originally developed in Wales in the mid 20th century. Descendants of the prolific egg-laying duck breed, the Khaki Campbell, the Welsh Harlequin Breed also have excellent egg production. They also have the ability to nurture a nest of ducklings. They Welsh Harlequin is one of the very few breeds of domestic ducks that still have the instinct to sit and hatch out a nest of their own eggs. This breed is also a calm with excellent foraging abilities, making it an excellent farm or garden duck.
The Welsh Harlequin duck is also an excellent duck for the beginner or less skilled breeder. The ducklings can easily be sexed within days of hatching; darker bills are males, lighter bills with dark spots are female.
Welsh Harlequin ducks are beautiful ducks with a streamlined build. They have a sturdy, upright posture and long bodies. Along with their beauty and egg-laying capacity, the breed also dresses well and can be raised for its excellent lean meat.
