Our Buff Orpington pullets live up to the Buff Orpington reputation of being quiet and gentle. As such they are a perfect match for a small backyard or homestead flock. They are fair egg layers, laying between 175 and 200 eggs a year starting when they are around 28 weeks old. Their eggs are a light brown.
About our birds. We buy day old chicks from several different hatcheries. They are vaccinated for Mareks and Coccidiosis. Because we source day old chicks from several different hatcheries, we know which ones have the best of each breed and are able to raise those up for sell. Our day old chicks are raised in small batches of 25 or less. By raising in small batches we are able to give them more personal attention.
Though we are located in Central Texas, we ship our started pullets out of the Post Office next to the DFW airport to get the best possible postal delivery service. Birds being shipped outside of Texas are shipped Priority Express, those shipped to destinations inside of Texas are shipped Priority. The younger birds are shipped with sliced cucumbers and Gro-gel for hydration. The older started pullets are shipped with sliced cucumbers. If you leave near Waco, local pickup is available. We will arrange a pickup time once the order is placed. We tend to ship on Tuesdays. This means that most birds will arrive on Wednesday or Thursday at your local post office. Once we finish shipping, we email you the USPS tracking number. The Post Office will call you when the birds are ready to be picked up.
