Developed by Albert Franz of Germany in the 1930’s, the Saxony is a mixture of Pekin, Rouen, Buff and Blue Pommeranian. The result has created an excellent dual purpose bird that has a light colored undercoat of feathers to make a better appearing carcass.
This is a very large duck that is close to the Pekin in size. Like Pekins, they’re docile and active foragers. They’re a popular breed for shows and exhibition.
