Penciled Indian Runner Ducks
The Penciled Indian Runner ducks are one of eight standard varieties of the Indian Runner. The fully grown Penciled Indian Runner is not large, but stands upright with a long, straight neck and flat head. These bottle shaped Penciled Indian Runner ducks are energetic and active, but are not capable of prolonged flight.
Runner ducks generally make great pets because of their flock mentality. When moving as a group, they act in almost complete synchronicity. Pet owners who are capable of caring for a larger group of birds often want to include runners for their variety in appearance and disposition. Indian Runner ducks can be quite excitable, but can be trained to act calmly.
Penciled Indian Runner ducks are excellent egg layers and can even outlay chickens, yielding 200-300 eggs per year. Runner ducks are generally not used for meat ducks since they are not a large duck breed.
The Pencilled Indian Runner is a profile breed and will not be overly large. Their strong legs and smooth running stride make them a highly competitive show bird. Furthermore, these birds will do great in your garden as their superb foraging abilities establish them as an excellent pest controller.
