The striking White Yokohama Chicken is a beautiful ornamental bird. These fancy chickens have a unique pheasant-like body. Their tails can grow up to 2-3 feet every year with proper care. In fact their ancestors in Japan are said to produce tails as long as 27 feet! They’re indifferent layers and will go broody after laying only their first dozen eggs. Both this variety and the Red Shouldered Yokohama were admitted into the American Standard of Perfection in 1981. This rare breed chicken was originally developed in Japan and Cackle Hatchery has been the main breeder in the USA since 1977. Their beautiful and striking presence makes them perfect for show competition.
