Description

The Ancona Duck is a rare duck breed that was developed in Great Britain in the early 1900s and is figured to be an ancestor of the Indian Runner and Belgian Huttegem Duck. Despite being developed in the early 20th century, the ducks weren’t available in America until years later.

These stocky ducks will mature out to a weight of about 6 to 6.5 pounds. These excellent egg layers (210-280 eggs/year) mature fast and remain hardy and productive in all sorts of weather and climates. Their signature black and white feathers have no real recurring pattern.

Anconas will stay close to home, they’re relaxed, and they can’t fly, making them an excellent backyard duck, especially considering their egg-laying ability.

Anconas are stocky little ducks who have an oval head and a concave green speckled bill. Ducklings will be yellow with white spots.

A minimum of 3 ducklings of this breed must be purchased for any shipment.
