  1. What are your current minimum order quantities?

    Assorted Breeds are the least expensive
    and will ship the fastest.
    Part of our mission to make buying poultry easy is to offer the lowest minimum order quantities possible. Thus, our minimum order quantities are seasonal and change frequently. You can view a detailed summary of our current minimum order quantities here.

  2. Are these birds babies or are they full grown?
    We ship all of our birds as day-old hatchlings (with the exception of Rare Adult Breeds).

  3. How long does it take to get birds?
    We are able to fill most orders within 2-3 weeks. Some breeds take longer, some are able to ship much faster. Assorted Birds will always ship the fastest. While more diverse orders with rarer breeds will take longer to ship than others. Each product has an availability (located right below the price) stating the current shipping time frame for that product.

  4. I need birds by this weekend. Can you send me some?
    Probably not. You can order Assorted Birds to get the fastest possible shipment, but usually we cannot fill orders for live birds within 1 week .

  5. Why can't you ship my birds out today?
    We hatch birds according to schedules, and sell the birds prior to hatching. Thus, we do not have a barn full of baby chicks waiting to be purchased and shipped. Also, we cannot risk having birds in the mail over the weekend. Thus, the only days we will ship are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

  6. I need birds in two months. Will you please delay my order until I need them?
    Yes. When checking out online, there is a spot where you can include Optional Order Instructions. Here, you can specify to delay an order until your desired shipping date.

  7. Can you safely ship live birds to my state?
    We can safely ship birds to everywhere in the United States, with the exception of Hawaii (yes, we can ship to Alaska). However, we do reserve the right to cancel any order we think may be an unsafe shipping scenario.

  8. Do you include a care guide or instructions on caring for these birds?
    Yes, we include Initial Care Instructions for the type of poultry you have ordered. You can also check out our Care Guides online.

  9. Will you please send me a catalog?
    We do not have a catalog. eFowl.com, along with our other businesses, are focused on sustainable practices throughout our organizations. Part of this is embracing paperless marketing. A printed catalog is not conducive to our values or business model.

  10. Will you ship to Canada?
    No, we are not currently able to ship into Canada. We can ship to a US Post Office on the US side of the Canadian border. Customers can pick up their chicks there and take them across the border. We can also provide the USDA Export Certificate necessary to do this. If this is something you are interested in, please Contact Us via phone.

  11. When is the hatching season?
    We hatch the most popular birds year round. However, chickens primarily hatch February through August. Ducks primarily hatch February through September. Geese hatch March through August. Turkeys hatch March through July. Game Birds hatch May through August. Finally, Guinea Fowl hatch June through August.

  12. Do you offer sexing on your birds?
    We offer sexing on most of the birds we sell. We do not sex Bantam Chicken Breeds, Call Ducks, and most Game Birds. Also, there are several types of rarer Chickens and Ducks which we do not sex. To see if sexing is available on the breed you are interested in, check the breed information page. If there is an option underneath to price to select males or females, then sexing is available. If the only option you see is "Straight Run Only" then we do not offer sexing on that breed.

  13. I see you have a Breed Specific Minimum of 5 on most chicken breeds. May I mix males and females of that breed to meet the minimum?
    Currently, you cannot mix gender options to meet that minimum of 5 chicks per breed. However, if you would just like to order just 1 male, or less than 5 straight run chicks, you can do that. Simply add atleast 5 females to your shopping cart first. Next, go back to the breed's product page and add just 1 male.

  14. I just need one male chicken, but you have a Breed Specific Minimum of 5. Can I order several females and then just get 1 male, or do I have to get 5 males?
    As long as you have atleast 5 total chicks of a certain breed in your shopping cart, you can get just 1 male. Simply add the 5 females to your shopping care first, and then our system will allow you to add in however many males you would like (even just 1).

  15. How do I add just 1 male chick to my shopping cart?

    1. First, add at least 5 female (or straight run) chicks to your shopping cart.
    2. After adding these 5 chicks, you will go to your Shopping Cart overview page. Here, click back on your browser to return to the Breed Page you were just at. Alternatively, you can click the name of the chicken breed you just added within the shopping cart itself to return to the Breed Page.
    3. With at least 5 chicks of the desired breed in your shopping cart, you are now free to add less than 5 males (or straight run) chicks to your shopping cart. Simply change the Quantity box to 1, select the male Chicken Gender, and add the birds to your shopping cart.

  16. Do you guarantee accurate sexing?
    Yes, we guarantee 100% accurate sexing (which is unheard of in this industry). While we occasionally will make mistakes, we are getting so good at it that we will put our money where our mouth is and guarantee 100% accuracy. If you receive even a single mis-sexed bird, we will refund for that bird.

  17. Do you offer adult stock?
    No, we do not. All the breeds we sell are shipped as day-old hatchlings, with the exception of Rare Breeds. Our Rare Breeds are shipped as juveniles or adults, and require significantly different shipping measures.

  18. Why don't you offer adult stock?
    The reason we do not sell adult stock is that shipping would be very uneconomical, and quite risky. For example, the cost to safely ship a male and female pair of grown Pekin Ducks would cost about 10 times the value of the birds themselves. The costs and the risks associated with shipping adult stock of common breeds is not something we can facilitate.

  19. Will you please make an exception for my unique situation and ship your adult birds? I need an older bird and I'm willing to pay for it.
    Unfortunately not. We do not offer these services except for our Rare Adult Breeds. Please check locally if you need adult birds.

  20. I need birds that are older. Where can I get them?
    Your best bet is going to be to search locally. Most of our users are astonished to find how common raising backyard chickens and other poultry is. Usually, locating juvenile or adult stock locally is not exceedingly difficult. We normally direct customers to three classified ad style websites - Craigslist.org, BestFarmBuys.com, and AgriSeek.com .

  21. How does the ordering process work?

    When you place an order, either over the phone or online, our system will process your order and get you the earliest possible shipping date (unless you have specified a delayed shipping date). We will then send you an email confirming your exact shipping date. On the date your order is scheduled to ship, we will send you another email confirming that the birds are on the way. Most shipments will arrive in 1-2 days. Generally, your local Post Office will call you to let you know that your birds are in, and you can simply pick them up there.

  22. Can I change my order after I place it?
    Feel free to request an order change by contacting us at Service@eFowl.com . Please note, order changes are subject to availability, and we may not be able to accommodate your change request. If you do make a change, please note that their is an order change fee (normally $5.00) per our Terms and Conditions.

  23. Can I cancel my order after I place it?
    Yes, you certainly can. However, we will charge you a 10% fee to cancel your order if it is "Ready to Ship" when you cancel it. An order is considered Ready to Ship if we have notified you of your exact shipping date, and that shipping date is within the stated availability time frame for the products you've ordered. ONLY after we have fulfilled these obligations to you will we charge you a cancellation fee.

  24. How do I cancel my order?

  25. Why do you charge a fee to cancel my order?
    We are literally in the business of counting chickens before they hatch. If we have scheduled your order and it is ready to ship, than means we have allocated eggs to fill your order, and we will not book any additional orders against the birds we have reserved for you. If you cancel an order we have ready to ship, we cannot simply undo the hatching process we have set in motion. There are costs associated with an order leading up to its shipping date that are irreversible.

  26. How will my order be shipped?
    Almost all orders are shipped via United States Postal Service Priority shipping. This is the best shipping option available for transporting live poultry in the United States. The Postal Service is very experienced and careful in handling all of our orders, and will almost always ensure that your birds arrive safe and sound.

  27. How do my birds survive being in a box for a couple days without food and water?
    Before a bird hatches from its shell, it will absorb the yolk into its stomach. This provides young birds with a nutrition and hydration source for approximately 1 week. It is because of this feature, as well as the careful packaging and shipping methods we use, that we can ship live baby birds.

  28. USPS Priority Shipping is listed as normally taking 2-3 days. Why don't you ship the birds using Overnight Express shipping?
    Shipping live poultry in the United States is a relatively unique service offered by the US Postal Service (Fedex and UPS do not offer it). The USPS will only transport live birds only along pre-approved shipping routes for the safety of the birds. The process does not conform to the normal time frames that you may be familiar with. Normally, USPS Priority shipping takes 1-2 days, and USPS Express shipping takes 1-2 days. Usually, an order shipped via Express will move along the exact same shipping route, at the exact same speed, as an order shipped Priority. We always to ship Rare Adult Birds via USPS Express shipping added protection, but everything else we send Priority.

  29. Does eFowl.com including Warming Chicks?
    No, we do not. As long as you have ordered in accordance with our current minimums, shipping with warmer chicks is not necessary.

  30. How does the Live Arrival Guarantee work?
    We guarantee live arrival of the poultry you have ordered and paid for. Occasionally, we will include spare birds (of the same breed/gender) with your order to achieve this. When your birds arrive please count the birds you have. If your order quantities were not met, please email service@efowl.com and we will arrange for a replacement refund. We cannot replace all losses, but we will always offer you a refund. Also, we may offer you store credit equal to 120% of your refund amount. Of course, you still have the option of a cash refund.

  31. What should I do to ensure safe shipment of my birds?
    It is very helpful to notify your post office that you are expecting a shipment of live birds and request that they call you upon their arrival. We also include instructions on the box for the postmaster to do this. Picking up your birds at the post office can decrease the shipping time by significantly. This will greatly aid the process, especially if you live in at the end of a long route in a rural area.

  32. What is your return policy?
    eFowl.com will not take back any birds, live or dead, once they have been shipped. We will always fully honor our Live Arrival Guarantee as described above. Also, in the event on an error in your order, such as incorrect breed shipped, you will be entitled to a full refund for the erroneous product without the need to return the birds.

  33. What if I cannot find the breed of bird I am looking for?
    We are always adding new birds to our flock and our supply lines. While we try to accommodate the numerous requests we receive to carry a specific breed, it will be a while before we can supply every species of fowl. If you are looking for a specific type of bird we do not carry, just look around the web and you may be able to find them. There are tons of farmers, hatcheries, and breeders out there. A good place to start is PurelyPoultry.com, with over 200 different poultry breeds.

  34. Will you ship internationally?
    No, we are not currently able to ship internationally.
