White Golden Layer Ducks
Are you looking for the ultimate egg producing duck? The White Golden Layer Duck is the bird that was specifically designed to be highest value egg laying breed. It was originally bred by John Metzer, a California farmer who sought to create best egg operation birds for his numerous customers. It is primarily based on the Khaki Campbell, which offers the best egg output of all the standard duck breeds. However, with the superior feed conversion and more relaxed temperament of other breeds, the White 300 Hybrid Layer Duck not only offers an extremely high production of eggs, but the best overall value for any egg producing operation.
These birds have the same laying characteristics as the Golden 300 Hybrid Layer, except they have white embryos rather than dark embryos. The white embryos are important for anyone looking to produce Balut Duck Eggs. Also, the White Golden Layer has a much lower occurrence of blue/green eggs (about .1%) versus the Golden 300 Hybrid Layer (about 8%).
Simply put, Khaki Campbell hens are wonderful for relatively small egg production operations. However, in a larger commercial operation, the Golden 300 Layer Offers some characteristics such as larger eggs, higher fertility rates, a calmer temperament, and a faster rate to maturity. |
