Tufted Buff Goose
The Tufted Buff Goose is a domestic breed developed in the Missouri in the 1990's. This particular goose breed is a cross between the Roman Tufted Goose and The Buff Goose. This medium sized goose breed is known as prolific egg layers.
Tufted Buff is an active goose with a mild tempermant and fairly quiet disposition. They thrive well in mixed flocks and can be quite enterprising. The Tufted Toulouse is an excellent choice as a yard bird and pet. Tufted Buff Geese enjoy ponds or bodies of water.
This prolific and popular barnyard goose is one of the few geese breeds to have been developed in the United States. It is an extremely practical breed and can be crossed with many breeds to produce excellent meat birds, though a pure bred tufted buff can be raised for meat as well.
The prodigious Tufted Buff Geese have large oval shaped heads with a tuft of feathers on the crown of their head. They have medium sized bodies with broad chests and exhibit mostly different shades of buff and fawn colored plumage with some white in the lower abdomen area. The back and tail feathers are usually a fawn and light buff color, fading to a slightly darker shade toward the neck and chest region. The Tufted Buff is a beautiful breed that can thrive best when kept in active areas as it is a very sociable goose.
