The Sebastopol Goose is a beautiful high profile goose and an excellent choice for a home flock or personal pet. Almost all Sebastopol are incapable of flight due to their long frilly feathers. The behavior of the Sebastopol Goose is usually an affable and amiable, allowing for pleasant human interaction, though causing them to be more susceptible to attack from common predators.

This pet Goose is classified is a medium sized breed of the medium weight class, with males weighing an average of 12-14 pounds and females ranging from 10-12 pounds.

The Sebastopol Goose is bred primarily for its beauty and temperament. The qualities of the best Sebastopol breeds lend itself as an excellent show duck and attractive homestead pet. When properly bred, the Sebastopol is coated with curly white feathers, lacking the rigidity of flight feathers found on other goose breeds.

Because of the length of their long curly feathers, the Sebastopol Goose requires plentiful bathing water in order to maintain the beauty of their white plumage.

For breeding purposes, it is recommended to breed the flat breasted birds with frizzled breasted to avoid the occasional defective stiff flight feathers in the goose's coat.
