Grey Pomeranian Geese
The Grey Pomeranian Geese are a heavy set, medium sized breed that originated in Northeastern Germany and is thought to be the only descendant of the Eastern Graylag Goose.
Pomeranians are a social and "talkative" bird and will greet visitors noisily, making them excellent watch birds. Their temperament varies greatly; some can be quite docile while others may be more aggressive.
A well bred Pomeranian Goose should have a wide carriage and well defined markings. The Grey Pomeranian is a beautifully colored gray goose with a gray head turning white around the middle of the neck region. The bird should have gray coloring on the back such that when you observe the bird from behind the colored feathers will ideally form a heartshape. The flank of the goose will also have gray feathering. The remainder of the plumage should be purely white.
The Pomeranian is a hardy breed, originally bred to endure cold North German winters. They are also excellent foragers and will feed on most anything green. Grey Pomeranian Goslings require fresh greens regularly from a very early age. Grass clippings work well, but the more hearty and nutritious greens are best. Many Goose owners like to feed their geese fresh greens from their own gardens. |
