Emery Penciled Runner Ducks

The Emery Penciled Runner is a variety of Indian Runner Duck. Similar to the Penciled Indian Runner, the Emory Penciled Runner is not a large breed, but stands tall and upright in stature with a long straight neck and flat head. Emory Penciled Runners ducks have somewhat of a wine bottle shape.

Emery Penciled Runner ducklings are a bit hard to find as they are not common amongst breeders. We are one of the few websites which carry them. They are unique for their rich brown penciled plumage pattern is quite striking and will stand out in any flock of runners.

Emory Penciled Runner ducks are bred primarily as egg layers and are known to even outlay chickens. They can yield 200-300 eggs per year. They are not commonly bred as meat ducks, as their unsubstantial bodies to not yield much product.

Like other Indian Runner ducks, Emery Pencilled Runners have a very active and even somewhat frantic disposition. They are easily excited, and sometimes the flock mentality of Runner ducklings can work the birds into a frenzy.

Generally, breeders will selected Emery Penciled Runner ducks with a less substantial profile. The finest birds will carry itself with an almost horizontal back and neck. The Emory Penciled Runner differs from the Penciled Indian Runner primarily in color; these birds are a rich dark brown and are visually striking in a flock. Their strong legs and smooth running stride make them a desired show bird, and their superb foraging abilities establish this breed as an excellent pest controller.

All ducklings arrived healthy. They have thrived over the past week. No complaints. Hopefully my straight run purchase will provide both sexes.

Wonderful birds! April 6, 2016
Reviewer: Dr. Kay Talley from Mountain Grove, MO United States
We received a delightful shipment of Emerys!...They came a day early to our local post office, and we went in and promptly picked them up, rather than wait for the next morning for them to be delivered.. The little guys popped out of their box as vigorous as popping popcorn, and just could not have been more active. Of the 13, 11 are bright eyed and thriving.  2 of our ducklings did not thrive, despite very close watch & care, passing away on the morning of day 3 here.  All the rest are growing like weeds as are all 13 of the white Indian Runner ducklings we recieved two weeks earlier (These guys are now over a foot tall!)  Again, wonderful birds, and we could not be more happy with all of them.
