Emery Penciled Runner Ducks
The Emery Penciled Runner is a variety of the standard Indian Runner. Similar to the Penciled Indian Runner, the Emory Penciled Runner is not a large breed, but stands tall and upright in stature with a long straight neck and flat head. Emory Penciled Runners ducks have somewhat of a wine bottle shape.
Emery Penciled Runner ducklings are a bit hard to find as they are not common amongst breeders. We are one of the few websites which carry them.
Emory Penciled Runner ducks are bred primarily as egg layers and are known to even outlay chickens. They can yield 200-300 eggs per year. They are not commonly bred as meat ducks, as their unsubstantial bodies to not yield much product.
Like other Indian Runner ducks, Emery Pencilled Runners have a very active and even somewhat frantic disposition. They are easily excited, and sometimes the flock mentality of Runner ducklings can work the birds into a frenzy.
Generally, breeders will selected Emery Penciled Runner ducks with a less substantial profile. The finest birds will carry itself with an almost horizontal back and neck. The Emory Penciled Runner differs from the Penciled Indian Runner primarily in color; these birds are a rich dark brown and are visually striking in a flock. Their strong legs and smooth running stride make them a desired show bird, and their superb foraging abilities establish this breed as an excellent pest controller. |
