Canada Geese
The
Canada Goose, commonly referred to as the
Canadian Goose is originally a wild goose native to Arctic and temperate regions of North America. This breed of geese is one of the most recognizable in North America as there are numerous different strains of the breed. The Maxima strain of
Canada Geese that we offer have all been raised and bred in captivity.
This
Canada Goose is distinguishable from almost every other breed by the white "chinstraps"--a patch of white feathers on the chin area--surrounded by it's pitch black head and neck. The back, flank and tail are a dark brown that fades to an almost white light brown around the breast and the stomach area.
Though in the wild these beasts can be aggressive when approached, these particular domesticated
Canada Geese are extremely calm and friendly when raised from goslings. These geese are excellent fliers so wings must be clipped or pinioned in order to keep them in captivity. Though they do not typically lay in their first few years, they make great mothers and will raise their young on their own.
Canadian Geese are monogamous and will take a mate in their first year, remaining together throughout their entire lives.
Canada Geese are strikingly beautiful in a flock and this large breed can make an excellent pet goose for for the family.
