Buff Pomeranian Geese
The Buff Pomeranian Geese is a heavy set, medium sized geese that originated in Northeastern Germany and is the only descendant of the Eastern Graylag Goose.
Pomeranians are a social and "talkative" bird and will greet visitors noisily, making them excellent watch birds. Their temperament varies greatly; some can be quite docile while others may be aggressive.
A well bred Pomeranian Goose should have a wide carriage and well defined markings. The Buff Pomeranian is a beautiful goose and will have a buff colored head, turning white around the middle of the neck region. The bird should have buff coloring on the back such that when you observe the bird from behind the colored feathers will ideally form a heartshape. There will also be a patch of buff plumage along the flank with the rest of the feathers being white.
These birds are quite hardy, originally bred to endure cold North German winters. They are also excellent foragers and will feed on most anything green. Buff Pomeranian Goslings require fresh greens regularly from a very early age. Grass clippings work well, but the more hearty and nutritious greens are best. Many Goose owners like to feed their geese fresh greens from their own gardens. |
